Safety Argument Documentation and PresentationHazard IdentificationWe have wide experience and expertise in many hazard identification techniques including: HAZOPs, Functional Failure Analysis, Human Reliability Assessment, Hazard Keyword Association and FMEA. A good mix of top-down and bottom-up techniques, along with brainstorming, is essential to ensure a complete identification process. Preliminary Hazard Log construction is a key part of this capability. Risk Policy and AssessmentSeverity and probability are the foundation to assessing and managing risks. We are experienced in recommending and using severity and probability scales for constructing risk priority indices. Because of their sensitivity, definitions of severity need to be carefully crafted depending on the domain and what is at risk, for example: human life, valuable assets, the environment and public image. This assessment information is key for continuing the development of the Hazard Log. |
Safety Case ConstructionThe Safety Case is a structured argument, supported by a body of evidence that provides a compelling and valid case that a system is safe for a given application, in a given environment. The safety case should be sufficient to demonstrate, so far as reasonably practicable, that a system is tolerably safe. The specialists at SE Validation have been involved in safety case development since the origins of their use in the UK defence industry, and are now involved in the latest safety argument presentation techniques using Goal Structuring Notation (GSN). |
