This is an example of one of our most popular training courses:

Verification and Validation of Models and Simulations

A one-day tutorial covering current UK and international approaches to this important subject. This tutorial aims to bring newcomers up to speed with some of the essentials of this subject, followed by a deeper exploration of the scope and approaches of different national and international efforts to develop standards and codify best practice in the field of verification, validation and accreditation (VV&A) of models and simulations (M&S) and synthetic environments.

A brief overview (PDF)

SE Validation staff have been constructing and delivering courses for many years, transferring knowledge from their core working experiences. These have been as part of week-long 'short' courses, participation in conferences and symposia, as well as bespoke technical day-courses. The audiences have varied from small intra-company teams and university students to multi-national forums in the UK and Europe.

Short Courses

The SE Validation team has considerable lecturing experience and has contributed to various short courses on many of our 'S' and 'E' topics. These have been for flight test engineers, system engineers, graduates and other functional groups from technical and managerial levels. SE Validation offers the knowledge and flexibility to fit in with, and complement the requirements of the clients training structure.

Bespoke Courses

SE Validation is able to construct dedicated courses on any of our key specialist areas, including:

  • modelling and simulation assurance;
  • safety case content and presentation,
  • specific tool use (e.g. Fault-trees and GSN);
  • human factors and reliability analysis;
  • ITEA (Integrated Test, Evaluation & Acceptance) planning;

as well as the more generic areas of:

  • system engineering;
  • the assessment of network-centric systems.

Teaching Methods

Our teaching methodology usually comprises open discussion and friendly presentation of the course content. Using presentations, tutorials and workshops we believe that learning comes best from doing, so we always try to include practical aspects in our courses. Team interaction and communication are also important areas that we try to include irrespective of the course content.

Course Locations

Course delivery has been required at dispersed locations within the UK and Europe. This need not present any problem as SE Validation can certainly travel internationally to come on site. Alternatively we can host training courses away from client's centres, either within the site's locale or at our locations in the UK.
